10.20.2012 Noon-6pm
Main & Washington Streets, Columbia
For the 1st time at the South Carolina Pride Festival, join us for a day of Family Fun & Pride in our kid-friendly space hosted by the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center.
We know that many LGBT people have families and many of our straight allies have kids too. This year we wanted to offer activities that would appeal to the entire family. We have a lot of exciting things planned for the Family Pride space. You won’t want to miss it and your kids will LOVE IT!!!
Schedule of Events:
All day – relax in bean bags under the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center tent. There you can pick-up copies of Gay Parent Magazine, brochures from Growing Generations, resources from HRC’s Family Project and the Family Equality Council.
Noon – PRIDE PARADE down Main, Hampton, and Sumter Streets
2pm – Children’s Book Reading – Bob The Ladybug: Bob’s New Pants by Tommy Starling — Join children’s book author and gay dad, Tommy Starling, for a reading of his book, Bob The Ladybug: Bob’s New Pants. The book was developed to teach about diversity and acceptance and to help put and end to bullying.
